The Columbus Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, Inc. is a chartered chapter of the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Clubs (NABSTMC). The philosophy of the NABSTMC and its many chapters across the country are:
- To promote the history of African American Veterans.
- To be a positive role model for youth in our Community.
- To support our veterans by visiting local Veterans, their families, and supporting our fallen Hero’s.
- To support Charitable Organizations in our Community.
- To uphold the traditions and standards of the National Association of Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club.
- To promote Motorcycle Safety in our Community.
The Columbus Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, Inc. will be awarding one (1) $1000 and two (2) $500 scholarships to qualified graduating high school seniors and first year college students in 2017. The scholarship funds will be disbursed by The Columbus Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, Inc., to the three (3) scholarship recipients, upon verification that he or she has been accepted and enrolled at an Ohio college of higher learning. Graduating high school seniors with a GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or greater and first year college students with GPA of 2.5 or greater, who are enrolled in college will be eligible to apply. The scholarship will be awarded based on proposed use, and the standing of the candidate in relation to other competitors based on overall qualifications, with the most weight focused on the quality of the final essay.
Instructions for candidates
- Prepare a letter of introduction, identifying yourself, your accomplishments to date, your family background, the degree you are seeking, and your financial need. Provide a brief summary of how you plan to use the scholarship funding if selected.
- Provide at least one letter of recommendation, from an educator or business professional, written on an official letter head.
- Write a 500-word essay, typewritten in Arial or Times New Roman, 12 fonts, with 1” margins and paragraphs double space, in your own words on ONE of the following topics:
- The stories of the Buffalo Soldiers exemplify many positive character traits. Please provide examples of these character traits from the lives of Buffalo Soldiers (living or deceased) and write in detail how two of these character traits can be used to help mold or develop your life.
- Write in detail why is it necessary that we pass on the legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers to future generations? What are your dreams, hopes, and aspirations or what are your intentions upon graduation from college? How do your dreams, hopes, or aspirations reflect those of the Buffalo Soldiers?
- Submit your information and essay by March 24, 2019.

- ACT/SAT Scores
- Official High School Transcript
- Proof of Tuition Expenditure (tuition bill, acceptance letter, and/or enrollment letter, etc.)
- A 500 word essay on the topics described above.
- At least one letter of recommendation with official letter head.
